About CBK Groningen
The Centrum Beeldende Kunst Groningen (CBK Groningen – Centre for Visual Arts) supports the visual arts sector and makes it accessible to the largest possible audience through a wide range of activities. We aim to add an extra dimension to the field of arts and to society.
Supporting professionals and connecting art, artists, the public and society, we want to strengthen and develop contemporary visual arts in the northern Netherlands. We do that in collaboration with other institutes. We want to contribute to a vital and durable artistic climate and an environment that citizens want to be part of. We do that from the conviction that visual arts give an added dimension to everyone’s life and to society.
We can do this because we have a vast, relevant network and a recognisable position in the field, and also because we can apply a broad array of functions. Professionalism and artistic imagination are our starting points in this and we provide space for experimentation and for developing talent, for professional modern artistry and suitable education and marketing.
In this respect the CBK acts as a matchmaker, adviser and developer; we connect parties, assist with questions, and help to produce/present art, both indoors and on the street. We see this interaction between activities, stakeholders and the public as an exciting and necessary process. With this, we want to continue supporting the visual arts climate and give an inspiring impulse to the community in Groningen and surroundings.
